Bartlett has secured a major infrastructure funding boost with a $5 million state grant supporting a broader $36 million sewer system expansion in the Fletcher Creek Sewer Basin. The investment is aimed at addressing long-standing capacity limitations and unlocking significant new development opportunities within the Bartlett Industrial Park corridor.
The state funding, included in Tennessee’s recently adopted budget, will support critical upgrades such as a new sewer equalization tank and improvements to major gravity sewer lines. These enhancements are designed to increase system capacity and better position the area for future industrial, commercial, and residential growth.
The Fletcher Creek Sewer Basin serves a large portion of eastern Bartlett, including the full Bartlett Industrial Park and surrounding development areas. The basin ultimately connects to the broader regional wastewater system serving the Memphis metropolitan area, where additional infrastructure improvements are also underway.
Once completed, the project is expected to unlock more than 300 acres of developable land within and adjacent to the industrial park. This added capacity is considered essential for supporting new investment, expanding job opportunities, and maintaining competitiveness in advanced manufacturing and logistics sectors.
Bartlett Industrial Park is already home to a strong base of manufacturing, distribution, and technology-related employers and is widely recognized as one of the region’s most productive industrial corridors. City officials emphasize that improving infrastructure capacity is key to sustaining long-term economic growth and attracting new employers.
The sewer expansion effort positions Bartlett to better accommodate future development demand while reinforcing its role as a key industrial hub in the greater Mid-South economy.
