The City of Bartlett has reinstated its economic development manager position for the first time in nearly 20 years, appointing Jared Myers to lead a more proactive approach to commercial and industrial growth. City leaders revived the role after identifying gaps in how Bartlett’s economic priorities were being advanced and citing strong community demand for expanded commercial development.
Myers brings deep local experience and a background in community development, most recently serving as founding executive director of The Heights Community Development Corporation in Memphis. His early focus is on strengthening relationships with existing businesses, coordinating with elected officials and the Bartlett Area Chamber of Commerce, and attracting new employers that align with Bartlett’s character.
Near-term priorities include marketing major industrial properties such as the 210,000-square-foot Varsity site off Appling Road and advancing infrastructure planning for Bartlett’s Innovation Park, which could support up to 2 million square feet of industrial space in the coming years. Myers also emphasizes walkability and green infrastructure as long-term economic drivers, positioning quality-of-life investments as a competitive advantage for the city.
