Innovia Medical Acquires Grace Medical, Boosting Bartlett’s Medical Device Clout

Grace Medical—founded in 1996 by engineer Tony Prescott in his garage—has become a world leader in middle‑ear implants, ventilation tubes, and ENT surgical tools. After divesting its ophthalmology line in 2016, the company doubled down on ear, nose, and throat solutions, culminating in a 15,000 sq ft, $2.8 million headquarters overhaul in Bartlett last year.

Innovia Medical’s acquisition reflects clear synergies: Grace’s precision machining (think microscopic titanium screws) married to Innohttps://dailymemphian.com/section/businesshealth-care/article/53047/bartlett-grace-medical-acquired-by-innovia-medicalvia’s global distribution network. “They acquired us for our brand and global position,” said Mike Crook, who’ll now set strategic direction for Innovhttps://dailymemphian.com/section/businesshealth-care/article/53047/bartlett-grace-medical-acquired-by-innovia-medicalia’s ENT offerings. Prescott, Beard, and Chung—Grace’s founding CTO, CEO, and HR VP—have retired, clearing way for the next growth chapter.

At a Bartlett Area Chamber luncheon, Chris Locke of the Memphis Medical Device Council highlighted the regional industry’s heft: a $4 billion economic impact, $1.5 million in annual wages, and 18,000+ jobs tied to advanced metal‑manipulation manufacturing. With Innovia’s backing, Bartlett’s med‑tech sector is primed for its next big leap.
